Volunteering at the Refugee Women’s Center allows you to make a meaningful impact in the lives of women navigating new beginnings. there are various ways to get involved:​

Ways to Volunteer :

  • Sewing for Success

    • Childcare during Friday sewing classes.

    • Help with craft fair setup for sewing products.

    • Staff the RWC table during craft fairs.

    • Teach sewing skills.

  • Conversations with Refugees

    • One-on-One Conversations.

    • Build vocabulary and grammar for workplace or academic settings.

    • Support confidence in communication for interviews and social situations.

    • Learn English through interactive exercises and real-world scenarios.

  • Journeys to Learning

    Support refugee girls and young women as they navigate new beginnings and pursue their educational dreams.

    * As a volunteer, you can support our mission through mentorship, tutoring, or help accessing financial aid—guiding the next generation of leaders.

  • Employee Assistance

    • Assist a newly arrived immigrant with their resume and cover letter.

    • Practice interview skills, including follow-up emails or calls.

    • Provide transportation to interviews.

    • Reach out to HR departments of potential employers (hospitals, universities, insurance companies, restaurants) to develop relationships with the RWC.

    • Help search online job search sites.

  • Advocacy

    • Help prepare visa applications.

    ​• Assist with DSS benefit applications.

    Help parents enroll children in school
