Our Mission Statement
At the Refugee Women’s Center, we empower refugee women by providing a safe space for their holistic well-being. Our goal is to guide refugee women towards self-sufficiency with dignity, resilience, and a sense of community.
The Refugee Women’s Center (RWC) is 501(c)(3) non-profit organization based in Hartford, CT.
On International Women’s Day, we are proud to recognize the incredible achievements of Saleha, who has become a U.S. citizen.
Eleven years ago, Saleha and her family arrived in the United States from Afghanistan seeking safety and the opportunity to build a new life. Since then, she has worked tirelessly to create a future filled with determination, growth, and service to others.
Saleha has become fluent in English, earned her driver’s license, and started her own business. Along the way, she has also dedicated her time to supporting others by serving as a translator at the Refugee Women’s Center, helping refugee women access resources and feel heard.
Today, Saleha is a respected role model in the Afghan community and an inspiring example of resilience, leadership, and perseverance.
We are honored to celebrate Saleha this International Women’s Day and grateful for the positive impact she continues to make in our community. 💜
